It’s all about the Pink Lady’s Slippers. I was hiking up the Turk Mountain Gap Trial form the Sugar Hollow Reservoir one mid-May . About 4 miles up, I came across a huge colony of Pink Lady Slippers in full bloom. I counted 147 blossoms just from walking up the trail. I found a nice shady spot on the side of the trail to sit amongst the pink blossoms to eat lunch. As I sat there absorbing the beauty of nature, I heard someone coming up the trail. Excited to share this moment with a fellow hiker, I looked up anxiously, but no face appeared. Then I saw movement lower and found myself string in the face of a female wild turkey. We both froze. It seemed as if the turkey couldn’t quite figure out “what “ I was. Then in a flying feathered rush, she turned around, gobbling frantically, as she flew thru the under brush. What an amazing hike!
