I bought two waterproof, disposable cameras, headed to the James River Runners, plopped into an inner tube and lazily floated down the river snapping reference photos. At one point, I turned over on the inner tube, submerged the camera and started snapping images of the river bottom and some of its inhabitants. There were a few not so quick dashes thru the current to get to the riverbank to take photos of the cardinal flowers and the monkeyflowers. A nice lunch on the beach then some more floating and bottom bumping on the occasional rock, down thru the rapids, and back to the shore. What a lovely way to do research!!
